How MoFont collects, uses, and protects your data — including handwriting samples and trained font models.

What MoFont is, in one sentence

MoFont (mofont.app) is an online service that turns 30–50 handwritten characters you upload into a complete OTF/TTF font for personal or commercial use. This page explains what we collect, why, who else can see it, and how to get it deleted.

What we collect

  1. Account information. Your email address, a password hash (we never see your plain-text password), and your display name if you set one. If you sign in with Google or GitHub, we receive the basic profile fields those services share.
  2. Handwriting samples. The character images you upload to train your font. These are stored as images plus the model weights derived from them.
  3. Generated font files. OTF/TTF output, training metadata, and the job history that ties a sample upload to a finished font.
  4. Payment information. Stripe and Creem process all card payments. We receive a customer ID, the plan you bought, and the amount — never your card number.
  5. Operational metadata. IP address, user agent, language preference, timestamps, and error logs needed to keep the service reliable and to prevent abuse.

Why we collect it

  • To train your font (your samples are inputs to a model run that only produces your font).
  • To deliver your font files to you and let you re-download them.
  • To process payments and provide receipts and refunds.
  • To send you transactional email — account confirmation, training-complete notifications, password reset.
  • To debug failures, prevent abuse, and meet legal recordkeeping requirements.

We do not train a shared, general-purpose font model on your handwriting. Your samples train only your font.

Who we share data with

These are the only third-party processors we use:

ProcessorPurposeData shared
SupabaseApplication databaseAccount, font job, payment metadata
Cloudflare R2File storageSample images, generated font files
StripePayment processingEmail, plan, payment metadata
CreemPayment processing (international)Email, plan, payment metadata
ResendTransactional emailEmail address, message contents
CloudflareDNS, CDN, edge securityRequest metadata, IP for abuse mitigation

We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not use it for retargeting.

How long we keep it

  • Active accounts: as long as the account exists.
  • Handwriting samples: by default we keep them as long as you keep the corresponding font, so you can re-train. You can delete them earlier from your dashboard.
  • Generated font files: kept while your account is active so you can re-download.
  • Deleted accounts: purged from primary storage within 30 days. Backups roll over and are fully purged within 90 days.
  • Payment records: retained for the period required by tax law (typically 7 years), in payment-processor systems.

Your rights

You can:

  • Download all your samples and fonts from your dashboard.
  • Delete a font job (sample + weights + output) at any time.
  • Delete your entire account, which triggers full purge of samples, weights, and fonts.
  • Ask for a copy of everything we have on you (email [email protected]).
  • Ask us to delete specific records.

Cookies

We use a small number of cookies, none for ad targeting:

  • Session cookie for authentication (required).
  • Locale and theme preference cookies (required for the UI to remember your choice).
  • An analytics cookie (Plausible / similar privacy-respecting analytics, no cross-site tracking).

Children

MoFont is not intended for use by anyone under 13. If you believe a child has signed up, write to [email protected] and we will remove the account.
